Writer Zoe Palmer and
musician Sam Glazer will be resident in Thames View and Riverside this summer
as part of 'Creative Barking & Dagenham'.
The Creative Barking & Dagenham programme is bringing together artists and
local communities for exciting creative workshops and collaborative projects
that aim to leave a lasting positive legacy in the area.
'Tales from Thames View'
is part of the Neighbourhood Commissions strand, which sees artists co-create
activities, projects and events in landmarks, neighbourhoods and parks across
Barking & Dagenham.
We are starting by
meeting different groups, talking to local residents, listening to their
stories and capturing creative ideas to develop through music, singing and spoken
word during the course of the residency.
Once we've heard what it
is you want, we'll start holding some regular sessions through July and August
- along with our workshops there will be all sorts of other fun, exciting and
creative activities (tea, barbecues, parties, fetes...) so keep checking
back as we update dates!
By the
end of the summer we will be ready to start recording our adventures - we think
this could be a CD or podcast but are keen to hear your ideas.
The programme is
generously funded by the Arts Council's 'Creative People and Places' fund and
Barking & Dagenham Council.
